What is BSR?

BSR is a Christian-based youth home for young men ages 16-19 who are having difficulties adapting to the demands of adult life.  Our students need guidance and direction, as well as the tools needed to deal with the problems and situations they face.  As a ministry, a youth home, an educational facility, and a place for spiritual growth, BSR equips young men to develop their character and become responsible adults.  Over 40 caring, trained staff members help instruct, counsel, and establish goals for our students.

Who are BSR students?

BSR students are young men ages 16-19 who are placed with us through the Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice, and the Department of Family and Children Services, or by their legal guardians.  Some of our students come to us with drug abuse problems, emotional problems, or even psychological problems.  We work with the student to establish goals for the duration of his time with us and help him to become a responsible, dependable adult.

How long does the BSR program last?

Since every student is an individual with his own goals and drives, the BSR program adjusts to their needs.   Some students come to BSR with no family or adequate support system, so any student can stay as long as necessary, and can earn certifications in any vocational area, as well as get their college degree!  Also, the Omega House is BSR’s transitional Independent Living Program for students who graduate BSR and want to get jobs, earn money, and become completely independent.

Where is BSR located?

We are located in Davisboro, Georgia, a rural town approximately two and a half hours south east of Atlanta.  Our remote location aids in keeping our students sheltered from negative influences and is also a central location for parents from many regions of Georgia to come and visit their sons as often as possible.

How can I place a young man at Broken Shackle Ranch?

The majority of our students come from the Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ), and/or the Department of Family & Children Service (DEFC).  For a young man to be a student at BSR, he must be between the ages of 16 and 19, and he must have a desire to change.  We cannot force anyone to better himself, he must see a need and be willing to work to better himself.  If you or someone you know would like to enroll a young man in the BSR program, please see our Admissions page.
